Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right.

What a perfect soundtrack for this children’s session!
Katie is 4 months old , she was just learning how to sit up and right at the beginning of this session she had a close “encounter” with the grass, which she did not like at all… So it was a little rough to get her relaxed.. All she wanted to do was nurse, sleep, and listen to “Three little bears”, so we gave her all the time she needed.. She fell asleep in mommy’s arms and that gave me extra time to concentrate on the little details I love to take, and when she woke up she was happy and ready to pose like a real pro!
What an amazing family… She is such a cutie and she is sooo loved by mommy and daddy! You can definetely see the pride in her parent’s eyes. The way they looked at her, cradled her and held her so that she would feel safe… And the best part of it is that I had the honor to capture and to convey what I saw with my eyes…
Allowing a photographer to see and document these moments is not easy and you absolutely need to feel comfortable and at ease. I had e-mailed the parents before the shoot to let them know that the person leading the shoot was going to be Katie and that we were going to play by her rules, because in order to capture her true personality she had to feel “safe”.The word they were going to have to concentrate on was “patience”, because if they were gonna get frustrated, the baby was going to feel it . It took some time to get her loose but when she did she gave us the best! They will have a hard time in picking out their favorite pictures, because I struggled to pick out which ones I wanted on my blog!
As a mother I know we all want the best for our children, the perfect dress, the perfect toy, the perfect life and … the perfect children’s portraits too… What we do learn is that perfect is not what we had imagined, but just who our children really are and what they truly give us and teach us every day! Taking a photo that shows the real personality is what I consider perfect!
For these portraits we all headed to one of Roanoke‘s beautiful parks, Starkey Park which was starting to bloom with all of the autumn’s colors. It was a beautiful warm day which allowed them to get her in different outfits. The perfect weather for a family session! Virginia is such an amazing place to live in especially during autumn!
