This couple is extra special for me… Matt is a very talented photographer and at times he shoots weddings with me. So I always knew how amazing it was going to be to work with them… Here are their engagement pictures!! And down here is their story…
Erin used to work as an optician in a local store and Matt’ mother and sister had the pleasure to meet her first. They liked Erin so much that they thought she was the perfect match for Matt, so they started telling her all the great things about him and showing her pictures and Erin was sold. She gave them her card and put the ball in his court. A week went by with no word, but eventually he sent her a Facebook message and their dialogue began.
They met in person on Aug 11, 2012. She was excited but didn’t have any expectations. He lived an hour away so she figured, “I’ve got nothing to lose. If I don’t like him, I’ll never bump into him around town!”
Their first date lasted 48 hours! They spent the weekend cooking and talking and laughing. He finally kissed her before she left on Sunday evening and that was the beginning….
Matt had been skydiving twice and Erin had never been, so the day they met they agreed on going together. On Aug 10, 2014, exactly two years after they had met in person, Matt decided to bring her skydiving. He was very anxious about the weather that morning as it was overcast and drizzling. You can’t skydive in the rain! She kept telling him, but he wasn’t having it. It did eventually turn into a beautiful, clear day. Of course they were both excited and a little nervous.
They were preparing to leap from a plane at 14,000 feet and plummet at terminal velocity toward the earth! Erin didn’t pick up on his extra nervousness. They got in the plane, they got in the sky and eventually she watched Matt disappear out of the plane door. “Talk about scary! I’m next and my instructor (who I’m strapped to) launches us out of the plane! ” she said. “It was the single most exhilarating experience of my life.” Once they pulled the shoot and slow down, the instructor, starts pointing out landmarks on the horizon. He points to the hangar and the parking lot and then to a sign. It was upside down and appeared to be about two by six inches from where she was (it actually measured six feet by thirty feet) but she didn’t have any trouble reading it. “Erin, will you marry me?” She gasped! Then cried…. By the time she got to the ground she was a hot mess!
“Matt was waiting with open arms. He got down on one knee and asked if I would spend my life with him, building a family and following our dreams. It was a great day!” Of course she said yes!!!!
