Billy and Hayley met in high school. They were in the same social circles but never dated during that time. It wasn’t until they both attended Radford University that they really got to know each other. “New Years Eve 2008, we kissed for the first time and have been together ever since!!”said Hayley.
One evening, on her way home from work, Hayley called Billy to see if she could get anything for dinner and he said he had made reservations.. So, to come home and get ready! Hayley instantly became suspicious, since Billy NEVER makes reservations for anything!! After dinner, Billy wanted to head up to the Roanoke Star, the location of their first date. She assumed he was going to propose up at the Star, so when they got there she tried everything to prompt him. They walked the trails…. They stood at the overlook and gazed at the city…. and yet NO proposal. There were so many people up there that night, she figured he was too nervous. Eventually Billy wanted to go home, that he had made dessert and that they needed to leave.
Hayley was heartbroken.
They got into his car and it did not start. Billy began to panic and once it finally started, they zoomed down the mountain. While driving, Billy said, ‘I love you so much, although this isn’t quite how I wanted to do this. Will you marry me?’ and prompted her to open up the glove compartment. Given the circumstance, she thought he was joking. But inside the compartment was the ring!
Of course, she immediately said yes!
They celebrated their special day in the historic building of the Patrick Henry, where they planned a first look before the ceremony. Purple and yellow were the colors that highlighted the ballroom. They ended the night dancing with their Disney hats, preparing for the destination of their honeymoon, which of course was Disney World!
