Jordan and Zach joined the Marine Corps in 2012. They both had the same job field and ended up in the same class which was a small group of Sailors and Marines. Zach would sit behind her in class and Jordan thought he was a cocky Marine who thought he was God’s gift to the world. “But goodness he was handsome”, says Jordan with a sparkle in her eyes… “I thought she was cool”, said Zach. They ended up at the beach for the day with a group of friends and from that day on they saw each other everyday outside of school.
At the end of 2012 Jordan had gotten orders to Hawaii. Zach still had to go to further training in Texas so they kept their relationship going via long-distance not really knowing where it was going. Then the happy news came, he got orders to Hawaii too!
He got on island in January 2013 and it was so nice to have a normal relationship again that they immediately started talking about the idea of getting married but they just couldn’t afford rings and a wedding, not to mention neither of their families could fly out there if they decided to get married in Hawaii.
Then one day in April they figured if they did a court house wedding there and just didn’t tell anyone they were married but family they could save up some money. So Zach Skyped Jordan’s father asking if he could marry her.
They decided on a day in May, told their families and informed their chain of command. They bought some cheap rings from Kmart and tied the knot in downtown Honolulu.
They moved into a little house in Pearl Harbor and settled right into married life, loving every minute of it. About 3 months later Jordan came home from work one night and Zach handed her a piece of paper. It had a picture drawn on it. It was a scavenger hunt around their house. When she found the last paper it said to go downstairs.
He was standing at the bottom of the stairs with the most beautiful ring, on one knee and asked if he could marry her…again. Of course, she said yes.
“It’s not the perfect romantic story that every girl dreams of but it’s ours and nobody has one like it. He’s my best friend and I’m his best friend. I couldn’t imagine life without him”, said Jordan.
It was an honor to be their and document their special day!!
