Growing up multicultural

Growing up multicultural

Hi, my name is Patrizia Corigliano Giovannini. Most call me Pat for short.

One of the biggest feelings I remember growing up was a being in a constant state of confusion. I grew up in the US, then moved to Italy at the age of 9, then back to the States again as a young adult! I was born in New York to my Italian immigrant parents. My mother & I have a language of our own. It's a mix of English an Italian dialect from a little town in Calabria, the south of Italy, where both my mother and father are from.

During my early years in the US there was once a class project where everyone had to wear the flag of where they came from. I was wearing the Italian one and most other students were wearing the United States Flag ... I didn't understand why I was different since I was born in the States like everyone else, but my family identified as Italian.

How they met - Amy and Brian were out with friends in downtown Roanoke and met at Lucky's. They were in a big group and were introduced but they didn't actually have their first date until months later,  when Brian asked Amy for coffee, on St. Patrick's Day weekend.
Their first official date was at Local Roots.

I am always trying to shoot in different locations, trying to make each engagement session unique. So we decided to explore through the science museum at Center in the Square.

How they met: Dave and Margaret were set up by a mutual friend and went on a blind date.

Chris and Rachel met in high school. Rachel was a Junior soccer athlete, Chris was a Senior basketball athlete. Rachel & Chris's sister were good friends. One Myspace click later, they started talking constantly. A few weeks later Chris picked her up from a school function to take her home. On their way, Chris turned down the music and asked, "if I asked you to be my girlfriend, what would you say?" Charming. High school sweethearts we became.
